Cautious optimism has returned to Foxborough.
The Revs ventured out west for Bruce Arena’s sideline debut and came home with three points off the backs of an often frustrated LA Galaxy side. The 2-1 road win extends the Revs’ unbeaten streak to four and puts the Boys in Blue just two points outside the final playoff spot heading into the international break.
Cristian Penilla found the back of the net right before halftime and then Teal Bunbury opened his 2019 account in the 60th minute to give the Revs a 2-0 lead. Both goals were assisted by Carles Gil. In the 83rd minute, Zlatan Ibrahimović got one back for the home side off a remarkable bicycle kick inside the box, but the Revs were able to survive LA’s final attacks to gut out the victory.
This week, Ray, Jon and Alex welcome Frank Dell’Apa, of the Boston Globe, to unpack this critical road win and see how different, if at all, the Revs lineup might look after the break. Then we bring in Julian Cardillo, of Pro Soccer USA, to give an in-depth preview of the US Women’s National Team, who begin their quest for a fourth World Cup in Paris next week. Julian will be part of a team of reporters covering the US Women throughout the group stage.
