The streak lives on.
New England extended its’ unbeaten run to 11 with a 4-1 win over Orlando SC in front of nearly 20,000 at Gillette Stadium on Saturday. The Revs remain firmly in the playoff hunt as they prepare to host the best club in MLS, LAFC.
Once again, the Revs got off to an early start in both the first and second halves. Gustavo Bou put the Boys in Blue up early in the third minute — his second goal in three games — and Cristian Penilla struck gold off a Brandon Bye assist in the 47th.
A hand-ball inside the box in the 60th led to Carles Gil scoring in his fourth straight and Diego Fagundez added a blistering sweetener in the 75th minute to notch the Revs fourth goal. That goal from Fagundez — his second in three matches — moves him up to second place all time on the Revs scoring list.
This week, Ray, Jon and Alex welcome back Kyle McCarthy, of the New England Soccer Journal, to unpack it all. The Huot 8k lets you know which matches to keep an eye on this week; then we look ahead to the Black and Gold’s visit to New England with Kevin Baxter, of the Los Angeles Times.
